Biography

Elaria Hissy is an Academic Persistence Specialist with the Academic Persistence Program. In this position, she emphasizes the empowerment of students to achieve both their academic and non-academic goals. Her role includes offering Academic Rebound Services, including creating an academic rebound plan, bi-weekly check-ins, referral to campus resources, ultimately creating an extra layer of support for students.

Elaria is currently part of the Counseling Psychology program at Wayne State University. She is deeply passionate about fostering positive change through her research and practice, and adopts a social justice praxis that aims to support understudied and marginalized populations.

When not engages in academic or professional endeavours, Elaria enjoys listening to music, going on walks, and studying the sky.
