Biography

Sara Berisha is an Academic Persistence Specialist supporting the Academic Persistence Program. Through this program, Sara acts as an extra layer of support for students by empowering them to elevate their academic performance. This is done through the Academic Rebound Services offered by the Academic Persistence Program: bi-weekly check ins, access to campus resources, individualized support, strategic goal setting, and providing accountability for the student.

Prior to joining the Academic Persistence team within the Academic Success Center, Sara worked at Wayne State's Mike Ilitch School of Business as the Assistant Director of the Corporate Mentor Program and as a Career Counselor. Before working in higher education Sara proudly worked as a licensed Psychotherapist serving primarily teens and young adults in the state of Michigan.

Sara earned her BS in Psychology from Michigan State University (go green!) and her MA in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology. Sara plans to be a part of Wayne State's Fall '25 MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology program cohort.

In her free time Sara loves watching horror movies, reading, volunteering at the Humane Society, and being a part of the Peloton community.
